Dabeli is a famous Indian street food from the Kutch region of Gujarat. It is
a spicy, sweet, and tangy potato mash mixture stuffed inside a soft bread roll (pav), then toasted with butter and topped with crunchy garnishes.
Key Components of Dabeli
The Bread: Soft burger-style buns or Indian pav sliced halfway and coated with chutneys.
The Potato Filling: Boiled potatoes cooked with a special spice blend called dabeli masala, tamarind water, and salt.
The Chutneys: A fiery red garlic-chili chutney and a sweet-tangy tamarind-date chutney.
The Toppings: Garnished with roasted masala peanuts, fresh pomegranate seeds, fine crispy chickpea noodles (sev), chopped onions, and fresh coriander.
Tastes sweet, spicy, and tangy all at once.
Often called double roti (meaning "bread") in parts of Gujarat.
